Picture yourself walking into your dream job. What logo is on the
door? Whether it's a hot tech start-up or a prestigious global
accounting firm, some employers are more desirable than others. For
companies, this affects how easily they can recruit, and for employees
it's tied to your professional reputation. Using our professional data
set from linkedIn, 9jacampus has identified which companies are most
attractive to potential candidates.
A few interesting insights came out about what makes a desirable employer:
*. Tech is hot: Software was the most represented industry on the
list(linkedIn) and Google top it
*. A strong consumer brand helps, but isn't essential: Consumer
powerhouses like PepsiCo , Coca-Cola , NBA , and Dangote ranked
highly. But so did leading professional services firms like ATI
consultants.
*Oil and gas, companies are also included, here is where Nigeria's economy lies
*. Bigger isn't necessarily better: Big global Nigerian brands are
well represented, but 40% of the top 10 are under 8,000 employees.
What makes these rankings so unique and exciting to me as a
professional resercher is that they're based on the actual actions of
millions of professionals on LinkedIn. May I remind you that last
year, LinkedIn was home to over 15 billion interactions between
professionals and companies. I cross-referenced my data with thousands
of survey responses to pinpoint the specific activities that best
indicate familiarity and interest in working for a company: connecting
with employees, viewing employee profiles, visiting Company and Career
Pages, and following companies. After crunching this data and
normalizing for things like company size, I developed my top 10 global
list. I then applied LinkedIn profile data to rank the most
sought-after employers among professionals in Nigeria and job
functions.
I used a similar analytical framework to develop the 9jacampus Index
of skilled graduates a powerful tool to help companies measure and
improve their evalution
